My Balanced Approached for 2018

I hope everyone had a great new year! I’m heading into 2018 with different approach than the previous years. I am no longer “getting back on track” by doing anything extreme like a detox or a cleanse, because I don’t feel like I really fell off track to begin with. In the past I would have looked at the fact that I rang in the new year with chili cheese dip and pistachio ice cream as this guilt-ridden episode. Then I would have restricted myself for the next week or so until I didn’t feel bad about it anymore. But here’s the thing, the pistachio ice cream isn’t going to kill me, or make me gain 5 lbs, or send me in a downward spiral that I can’t get out of. I don’t do it often, so when I do you bet for damn sure I enjoy it. 😉

I am approaching 2018 with a very open, balanced mindset. I love eating healthy, real foods because it makes me feel good! It’s something I thoroughly enjoy, hence why I blog about it. 🙂 But I am going to be a bit better with balancing the healthy foods that I eat with eating things that I crave without any guilt attached. I think we are in a moment where people are continuing to look for what else they can cut out from their diet to be “healthier” or “skinnier.” However in the end it’s not sustainable, and can often lead to a negative relationship with food.

That being said, it’s taken me awhile to get to this place. I’ve done the Clean Program twice a year for about four years now, and it’s taught me so much about myself and the appreciation for healthy, clean eating that it’s now just incorporated into my life. So if you are in a place where you need a 21 day cleanse to reset your body and your mind, you do you! There’s no right or wrong way to go about getting to a place where you feel really confident with being able to balance healthy eating with guilty pleasures. I think we all take our own journey to get there.

My goal for this year is to give you guys healthy, balanced recipes that are easy to make and that taste delicious. Some will be healthier than others, depending on what I feel like eating. 😉 Again I always appreciate each and every one of you and your support for Spinach for Breakfast. Please always feel free to reach out to us with questions or ideas for what you want to see on the blog!
