As you might have noticed, Maria and I have been into the whole adaptogen movement lately. Adaptogens are basically any herb, spice, or mushroom that helps decrease stress and balance your body and your hormones. Anxious? We’ve got a shake for that. Need to increase energy and stamina? We’ve got balls. 😉
I myself have had to slowly start introducing adaptogens into my life to prevent getting overwhelmed. Besides ashwaghanda and maca powder, reishi is the third adaptogen I use most often.
Reishi mushroom is known as the “ultimate balancing adaptogen.” Like many of the adaptogens, it has so many amazing benefits that you want to try and find a way for it to become a regular part of your diet.
Anti-Inflammatory
Helps prevents tumor growth and cancer
Improves liver function and detoxification
Supports cardiovascular system for heart health
Balances Hormones naturally
Supports immune function
Improves cognitive functioning
Reishi mushroom is a mild adaptogen, and (according to research) it’s benefits are most often noted after it’s been taken regularly over a long period of time. So for me, I either add it to my morning shake or make this Chocolate Reishi Latte which is so so delicious! I love making this at night to wind down with something warm and chocolatey. 🙂
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of raw cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon reishi powder
- 1 teaspoon of raw coconut butter

- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt

- Bring to a boil and then allow to simmer for about 5 minutes
- Add to a blender and blend until frothy (*optional)
Our Reishi Picks
I have Reishi drops. How many should I put in the Latte?
I Fran, I would look on the bottle and put in one serving!
Hey , Do y’all recommend a certain namebrand for reishi powder?
We like Sun Potion! Moon Juice is also a good brand from what I hear!
