I read @yung_pueblo’s comment on his Instagram post the other day and his phrase “the beauty of living comes from the movement of change” jumped out at me so strongly I had to say it to myself like 7 times.
Things in our lives change and that is amazing, if we let it be. Relationships change, weight changes, career paths change, financial situations change… our life is forever evolving and it is only when we resist these changes (create attachments and stories) that we get stuck in the feels of angst, stress and anxiety. When we let go of resistance we save ourselves so much time.
But how do you know when you’re resisting?
Maybe you’re obsessed with your weight or what you’re eating – like living on my fitness pal and tracking the mint you just ate (i’ve done it). Maybe you can’t stop stalking your ex on IG. Maybe you hate your job but you are avoiding reaching out to recruiters on Linkedin because you just can’t find the time. Maybe you’ve been wanting to join a certain gym but “next week” is always the day you’ll sign up. Maybe you’ve always wanted to start a blog but you just can’t get yourself to do it because like, what will set you apart from all the others? Let go of it all.
Nothing feels more freeing than letting go of resistance. Just be present with what is. Breathe. Feel the sun today. Drop the internal conversation and simply listen to whoever is speaking to you. Talk to yourself in third person and tell her all is ok. “The past is history, the future is a mystery, and this moment is a gift. That’s why it is called the present.”
