Non-Toxic Spa Highlight: Savor Beauty + Spa

savor-beauty-and-spa

I loveeee skincare. In the last year or so I’ve been transitioning a lot of my products to non-toxic/organic brands, but keeping a fairly balanced approach. It wasn’t until I got pregnant that I really tried to ditch anything left that had chemicals. I’m not a psycho pregnant person (I swear), but if I can swap something out that’s just as effective and better for my health, I’ll do it. 🙂

Today I’m chatting all about Savor Beauty + Spa. It’s is non-toxic, organic spa that has two locations in Manhattan (UWS and West Village) and one location upstate. Savor is owned by Angela Jia Kim, an expert in Korean beauty. Angela is such a badass. She not only is the owner of three spa locations, but created an entire line of natural beauty products (that I was told was also inspired by her pregnancy!), and is also a philanthropist.

“I wanted to incorporate the Korean beauty rituals that I grew up with. But as a busy mom and wife living the gorgeous chaos of New York City, I needed flawless skin in a New York minute. And it must be organic and it must work.” -Angelina Kim

The spa itself is so adorable. Everyone is super sweet and really knowledgeable. I learned a ton during just one facial appointment. Korean beauty experts are the literally the qweens of skincare, so I was like “hi, please tell me all your secrets.”

I got the Champagne Couture Facial that was then customized to my skin. This facial includes microdermabrasion and a peel, so it’s awesome for anti-aging, reducing fine lines, and evening out skin tone (aka, all my problems).

Here’s a quick rundown of what I learned! Just note these recommendations were based off of my skin which tends to be on the dryer side with an uneven tone.

SAVOR SPA NATURAL SKINCARE TIPS

♦ Do the double cleanse. Pre-cleanse with an oil cleanser to remove make-up, suck out the bad oil, and moisturize with the good oil. Massage it into your skin! Then follow with a second gentle cream cleanser or exfoliant.
♦ Only fully exfoliate your skin twice a week.
♦ Use a toner right after you double cleanse to lock in moisture.
♦ Serums are your bff when it comes to moisture and serious skin care; use them daily.
♦ For a nighttime routine, follow the above steps and then add a face and eye cream for extra skin repair and aging prevention. I’m using their Caviar Eye Cream.
♦ SPF always.
♦ Drink a ton of water!
♦ Think about facials as a part of your skincare routine (Koreans do), not just a “luxury.”

And just to round it out, Savor’s Dollars & Scents program hires moms who are re-transitioning to the workforce after taking time to raise their children. They also #buyfromwomen whenever possible, and have a Savor Success group to support women entrepreneurs. 🙂
