We mention this a lot but preparation is SO important when it comes to eating clean and healthy on a regular basis. We all have different lifestyles, so the amount of preparation really differs for everyone. For some, it just might mean keeping healthy groceries in the house because you have time to cook dinner on a nightly basis. For others, like myself, meal preparation is really important in order to have dinner on the table. If I don’t, Lou is then forced to order a sandwich… which he doesn’t hate 😉
This past Sunday Lou’s sister and I put some jams on and made all of our clean meals for the week. We made the Chipotle Black Bean Bisque (because we are obsessed), the Butternut Squash “Mac & Cheese”, and a new soup that tasted like a liquid salad with no salad dressing. That one will not be making it onto the blog…
For dinner Lou’s mom had made this amazing Slow Cooker Lentil Soup. Her spin on the recipe makes this soup so flavorful and delicious I had to share it with you guys! It’s also one of those really simple, “set it and forget it” type of meals that can be ready for dinner when you are. And with 10 servings, you can freeze half or have lentil soup all week!
The lentils looks delicious. I like mine with some turmeric, cumin and curry. Happy Nesting!
That sounds good!
Where does one find organic bouillon cubes (veggie, or chicken) that are Cleanse friendly?
Hi Heidi, I usually get mine at Whole Foods or health food stores in NYC. I can’t remember any specific brands right now but they do have ones that are just seasonings and sea salt. I will be on the look for you!
Looks great! If you were going to add sausage to the recipe, would you put that in the slow cooker with the rest of the ingredients in the beginning or do you add it in the end?
I would pan fry the sausage so it gets a little crispy and then mix it in at the end!
Hi there Heidi,
I made this a few nights ago and absolutely loved the flavors! I always appreciate a delicious slow cooker recipe. Thanks!
Looks delicious! Any suggestions for substitutes for the tomato paste while cleansing?
Hey Jenn! Honestly it’s so good how it is I would hold out on this one until after the cleanse (as long as tomatoes are an irritant for you!).
are not an irritant! ***
