Chocolate Zucchini Smoothie

My new smoothie obsession! 

For having a blog named after drinking green smoothies in the morning, you’d think we’d have more smoothie recipes. 🙂 But I am such a creature of habit! I’ve literally drank the same three smoothie (Spinach for Breakfast smoothie, Low Sugar Avocado Smoothie, Chocolate Cherry Green Smoothie) for years. But I’m switching things up!

I don’t have fruit fear. I am happy to throw half of a banana and some frozen berries in my morning shake. But I also snack on a lot of fruit during the day (when I was pregnant the fruit cravings were so real). So I started adding zucchini to my smoothies in the morning for this Chocolate Zucchini Smoothie and I’m obsessed! Not only am I decreasing the sugar, but I’m getting more veggies in during the day. And you can’t even taste it! 

I like to chop and steam my zucchini ahead of time so it’s easier to digest. Then I freeze it so it makes my smoothie nice and thick. I’ve also done this with yellow squash and cauliflower. And as you know, I just like starting my day this way!

Ingredients
  1. 10oz nut milk
  2. two big handfuls of greens (spinach/kale/mixed greens)
  3. 1/2 frozen banana
  4. big handful of frozen zucchini
  5. 1 spoonful of nut butter of choice
  6. 1 scoop of chocolate plant based protein
Instructions
  1. blend in a high speed blender until completely smooth.
